Ecologist and National Geographic explorer Julie Tierney and Philadelphia-based animatorJames Dybvig will be at our Lincoln, MA residency for the month of June.
Filmmaker Hannah Myers will be in our partner residency in Truth or Consequences, NM in July
Writers Ariane Audet and Kat Stoddard will be in our partner residency in Grantsville, MD in June, hosted by writer Kasia Merrill
Coauthors of "Very Nice Box" Eve Gleichman and Laura Blackett will be in our Norfolk Icebox residency in April
Science writers Rachel E. Gross, Byrd Pinkerton and Angela Chen were in our Catkills residency this February.
SOLO RETREATS 2022-2023
Poet and Randolph MFA student Lauren Turner will be in residency at our Truth + Consequences retreat in New Mexico for a month in late April.
Writer and educator Brian Lin will be in our sister program SoulLand in Pioneertown, CA from March 13-17.
Author Dionne Ford will be in our Norfolk Icebox residency in March
Filmmaker Joseph Sackett was in residency at our sister program Martha MOCA in October of 2022.
Ecologist, activist and writer Vanessa Chakour was in residency at our sister program Martha MOCA for September 2022.
Carmen Maria Machado the award winning author of the memoir "In the Dream House" and "Her Body and Other Parties," Carmen was at our sister program Martha MOCA in Lambertville, NJ in May of 2022.
Visual and landscape artist Connie Noyes was in our Icebox residency for the month of February 2022, working on a series of installation pieces about grief.
Poet and editor Ted Dodson was in our Lincoln residency in January of 2022. Ted is the author of An Orange (Pioneer Works / Wonder, 2021) and At The National Monument / Always Today (Pioneer Works, 2016). He works for BOMB, is an editor-at-large for Futurepoem, and is a former editor of The Poetry Project Newsletter.
MEET OUR 2022 Group Cabiners:
David McCord Hannon: Creator of large-scale installations incorporating 3-D animation, sculpture, and performance into interactive stage sets, many of which simulate what it was like to grow-up queer on an exaggerated scale. While at The Cabins, David will lead participants on a narrated walking tour.
Will Goldberg: A NYC-based writer, educator, and playwright whose plays have thrice won the Denis Johnston prize for playwriting, Will also worked for several years at the 9/11 museum. He’ll use that experience to teach a class on how forensic science powers justice initiatives while at The Cabins.
Laura Kerrigan: Host of the queer leftist feminist podcast, “Season of the Bitch,” Laura is a Buffalo, NY-based musician, artist and educator currently working on a new album called “Adelaide.” At The Cabins, she will teach participants how to read their astrological charts.
Connie Noyes: Winner of The Cabins Haystack Residency Fellowship, Connie is an interdisciplinary artist whose work focuses on mourning research. She will be staying in Norfolk for a month after the group retreat to focus on new work, and she will be joined by her dog, Leonard Cohen. At the group retreat, Connie will teach a Butoh movement class.
Marie-Helene Bertino: A writer, teacher, and brand ambassador for the uncanny, Marie-Helene is the author of three books. Her new novel, BEAUTYLAND, is forthcoming from FSG. At The Cabins, Marie-Helene will teach people how to mess with time.
Dionne Ford: Fresh off our @marthamoca residency this fall, Dionne will join our February group to share a class on letting go. Dionne is a NJ-based writer, editor, and author of the forthcoming memoir “Finding Josephine” and co-editor of the anthology, “Slavery’s Descendants: Shared Legacies of Race and Reconciliation.”
