DIY GROUP RETREAT

 

 

The Catskills DIY Group Retreat

Applications open October 1st and close December 1st, 2022. 

The retreat is from February 3-11, 2023

 

Unlike prior years where we accepted solo applications, this retreat is open to groups of up to four artists. If you have a writing group you’d like to plan an escape with, a cohort of architects all working on the same project, a band that needs a place to work on new compositions—by “artists” we mean people making things together with a common goal in mind.

 

Normally our group retreats are led by one of our directors. For this retreat, your group will be in charge of how you use your time and space. Aside from a possible meal with the property owner (who is also a Cabins board member and lives on the property in a separate house), your time will be your own.

 

The house is a cozy cabin in the Catskills. Home details are as follows:

 

Residency dates: Friday February 3 - Saturday February 11, 2023

 

Applications: Open from October 1 - December 1,  2022

 

Location: Located in the charming town of Hurleyville in Sullivan County, NY (cafés, art center) on 25 acres of park land with access to the O&W Rail Trail for excellent hiking and cross-country skiing right out the back door.

 

Home details: Private house on a bucolic property. Four bedrooms, two bathrooms. Full kitchen. Wood stove. Wonderful porch.

 

Wifi: Yes.

 

Cell phone service: Yes.

 

Kitchen access: House has its own kitchen.

 

Bed size: Bedroom 1: Queen; Bedroom 2: 2 Singles; Bedroom 3; 2 singles; Bedroom 4: Queen

 

The Cabins recommends groups of 4 people max apply so that everyone can have their own space to retreat to.

 

Please note that visual artists won’t have their own studio space(s). The bedrooms have enough room to think, dream, and write in, but are not roomy enough for large art projects.

 

Permission for emotional support animals: No. 

 

Rates: No charge for residency. Food and transportation not provided.
